A bipartisan group of senators convened in the Capitol Tuesday with White House crypto official Patrick Witt. On the docket: how to construct ethics controls on crypto profiteering for public officials that would cover – but not enrage – President Donald Trump.
Sens. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) used the office of Majority Whip John Barrasso to host Witt late this morning.
Progress appears elusive. Moreno came out of the room complaining about a “circus” and said, “Democrats are trying to find reasons to vote against the bill and making up a bunch of bullshit excuses.”
