Multi-million pound donations to Reform UK from two crypto-billionaires may fall foul of a new law that caps the amount of money Britons living abroad can contribute to political parties.
Yesterday, Christopher Harborne, who is based in Thailand, announced that he was giving £36 million to Reform UK, matching a payment from Ben Delo, who until earlier this year lived in Hong Kong.
The donations, which came within 24 hours of each other, are the largest ever made to a political party. They will increase pressure on Andy Burnham to do more to tighten political funding laws and curb the power of mega-donors.
