ZANZIBAR CITY, Tanzania (HOL) — Zanzibar has approved plans for a cryptocurrency-focused “cyber city” on its western coast, backing a private-sector project designed to attract digital nomads and test blockchain-based administrative systems under special economic rules.
The development is planned for a 71-hectare site near the Fumba Peninsula and is being led by private entrepreneurs in partnership with the Zanzibar Information and Communication Technology Authority, according to people involved in the project.
