X has put a Trade button in front of an audience that reaches 132 million mobile users a day. Tapping a $BTC or $TSLA cashtag on a U.S. timeline opens a live chart and a Trade button that routes the order to one of five partner platforms: Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken or Coinbase. X is not acting as a broker.
How it sits inside the timeline
Cashtags have been on X for years. Earlier this year, X upgraded the symbols with real-time prices and charts. The Trade button is the third layer: it sits next to the chart inside the post, and on tap transfers the user to a partner exchange for the order. The buy and sell still happen at the partner, not on X. The feed reaches more than 245 million users across all devices.
