CoinMarketCap’s Altcoin Season Index fell to 52 on Tuesday, a decline of four points from the previous day’s reading. The index, which tracks the relative performance of the top 100 cryptocurrencies against Bitcoin over a 90-day window, now sits closer to neutral territory after a period of elevated altcoin activity.
How the Altcoin Season Index Works
The index compares Bitcoin’s price performance with that of the top 100 coins by market capitalization, excluding stablecoins and wrapped tokens. According to CoinMarketCap’s methodology, an altcoin season is confirmed when 75% or more of these top 100 coins outperform Bitcoin over the past 90 days.
