WEMIX Hit by Smart-Contract Ownership Attack, $724,000 in Crypto Stolen

  • Layer-1 blockchain WEMIX said about $724,000 in assets, including WEMIX$, WEMIX and USDC.e, was stolen in a smart-contract ownership attack.
  • WEMIX said the stolen USDC.e was exchanged into assets including Ether (ETH), BNB Smart Chain and Tether (USDT) and dispersed across multiple wallets, with some of the funds frozen at centralized exchanges.
  • WEMIX said it suspended Chainlink CCIP, Play Bridge, bridges linked to WEMIX 3.0, the WEMIX$ module, the PNIX service and trading in affected liquidity pools as part of its response, adding that the full extent of the losses remains under investigation.
