Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) shares have had a really impressive month, gaining 25% after a shaky period beforehand. Looking back a bit further, it’s encouraging to see the stock is up 48% in the last year.
Although its price has surged higher, there still wouldn’t be many who think Umicore’s price-to-sales (or “P/S”) ratio of 0.2x is worth a mention when the median P/S in Belgium’s Chemicals industry is similar at about 0.7x. However, investors might be overlooking a clear opportunity or potential setback if there is no rational basis for the P/S.
