The UK announced new rules for cryptocurrencies.
And experts said they aligned the country with the U.S., rather than the EU.
British Finance minister Rachel Reeves said London would bring crypto under compulsory regulation.
The new draft laws will extend existing financial regulation to companies involved in the sector.
Reeves said she had discussed regulation with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent during a visit to Washington last week.
She added the two countries planned to discuss the matter again in June.
