US federal authorities have arrested a 21-year-old Florida man accused of participating in a scheme that allegedly used malware hidden inside video games distributed through Steam to steal more than $220,000 worth of cryptocurrency from users.
According to a criminal complaint, Zyaire Wilkins and several alleged co-conspirators are accused of launching and promoting eight malware-infected games between May 2024 and February 2026. Investigators allege the campaign compromised around 8,000 devices and enabled the theft of funds from approximately 80 cryptocurrency wallets.
