Stablecoins and crypto regulations take center stage in DC

Fewer than 3% of Congress members own cryptocurrencies, according to official filings. 

You wouldn’t have guessed it’s such a small share at this week’s Blockchain Summit in DC, where federal officials and lawmakers from around the country showed up in large numbers. Though digital assets like crypto and bitcoin have been around for nearly two decades, debates around regulations and guardrails are now picking up. 

Congressional representatives acknowledged the disconnect. Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL) said lack of action is due to the “fear of the unknown.”
