Spain’s last training session before their July 19 showdown against Argentina was canceled on July 18 after thunderstorms and lightning rolled through New Jersey, leaving La Roja with an unplanned rest day less than 24 hours before the biggest match in football.

The final is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at New York/New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford. For Spain, the disruption is an unwelcome wrinkle after strong semifinal and quarterfinal performances that carried them to this point.
