South Korean crypto firm mistakenly pays out $40bn in bitcoin

A major South Korean cryptocurrency exchange mistakenly transferred approximately 40 billion dollars’ worth of bitcoin to customer accounts, representing one of the largest accidental financial disbursements in digital asset history.

A South Korean cryptocurrency exchange accidentally gave away more than $40bn (£32bn) worth of bitcoin, briefly making customers multi-millionaires. The exchange had intended to issue a small reward of 2,000 won ($1.37) but mistakenly credited users with 2,000 bitcoins instead.
