SEC Commissioner Peirce Seeks Clear Crypto Laws at Bitcoin Conference

Speaking at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas, Hester Peirce, of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has reiterated the need for better rules on cryptocurrencies. Commissioner Pierce has stated that the SEC needs to make clearer rules about when a crypto deal counts as a “securities transaction” that the SEC regulates.

She clarified that the use of cryptocurrency in a deal is just as important as the cryptocurrency itself.
