SCMP reports bogus site for fake crypto news featuring Hong Kong billionaire

The South China Morning Post has reported to police that an impersonated website posted a fake news report about Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing offering cryptocurrency investment advice during a TV news interview.

A spokesman for the Post said: “We are aware of the situation and have reported it to the police.”

The spokesman also advised readers to “stay vigilant to avoid scams or phishing sites”, and that they should visit the paper’s official website at www.scmp.com for news.

The fake news on the rouge website showed a publishing date of April 17.
