Samsung Electronics Shares Plunge Over 8%, Dragging South Korea’s KOSPI Index Lower

During the Asian trading session on August 24, Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) opened lower and continued to slide, plunging 8.35% and breaching the 260,000 won (approx. $188) mark to stand at 258,000 won. Impacted by this, South Korea’s KOSPI index dropped by over 3%, falling below the key 6,700 mark to stand at 6,690.32 points.
