Russian crypto miners eye renewables to evade fossil fuel bans

1st January 2025 – (Moscow) On 30th December, Alexey Zhikharev, Director of the Russian Renewable Energy Development Association, revealed that Russian crypto miners are likely to transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy to circumvent regional bans that take effect from 1st January.

Zhikharev stated that the push for climate neutrality in crypto mining is expected to intensify as the sector becomes increasingly integrated into the broader Russian economy.
