Russia has made tax identification numbers mandatory for clients opening digital-depository accounts for cryptocurrency and digital rights.

The Federal Financial Monitoring Service has made the individual taxpayer number, or INN, a compulsory identifier for these accounts.

The requirement has formed part of Russia’s anti-money laundering framework, which took effect alongside the country’s regulated crypto market on September 1.
