Pakistan ends crypto company banking ban

Pakistan’s central bank has permitted crypto companies to hold bank accounts in the country for the first time, though the banks themselves remain unable to trade in digital currencies.

The State Bank of Pakistan has told lenders they are able to provide services specifically for virtual asset service providers that hold licences or no-objection certificates from the Pakistan Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority. The directive comes seven years after the central bank prevented lenders from providing banking services to crypto companies.
