New SEC plan aims to end a decade of crypto ‘uncertainty’
This week is turning out to be a strong one for those anticipating clearer crypto regulations. On Nov. 10, the Senate Agriculture Committee unveiled a draft framework to oversee digital asset commodities — a major milestone toward comprehensive U.S. rules governing cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
That same day, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released new guidance permitting crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs) to stake digital assets and distribute staking rewards to retail investors, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced.
