Netflix ended the last quarter with its weakest growth in years. The streaming market leader now plans, among other things, to encourage users to spend more time watching its movies and series.
“We want to be the entertainment service that people can’t live without,” said co-CEO Ted Sarandos during a video conference with analysts.
Revenue rose 12 percent year-over-year to $12.9 billion. That was the lowest growth rate in three years—though the figure was in line with analysts’ expectations. Bottom line, net income grew by about 44 percent to $3.66 billion.
