Memory chipmaker Micron Technology announced on December 3, 2025, that it will exit the consumer memory business, shifting focus toward advanced memory chips for artificial intelligence and data centres.

The company’s decision comes amid a global semiconductor shortage, as demand for memory and storage solutions for AI-enhanced data centres surges worldwide.
