Over the past year, I collected and catalogued case after case of money being laundered through digital currencies, building what I believe is the first global database of its kind. It now contains 164 cases, every one of them drawn from publicly available sources.

What I found was chilling. Cryptocurrency has become the payment method of choice for the worst people on earth. At street level, it is being used to fund murder-for-hire, human trafficking and the drugs trade. At the very top, entire rogue states such as North Korea, Iran and Russia are using it to dodge the sanctions the free world has imposed on them.
