Investors came into this week already bruised on HelloFresh, with the stock down about 26% over three months and closing today at €3.15. The long running thesis has been simple: either the company proves its meal kit model can throw off steady cash, or the low valuation is a value trap.
This quarter puts margins at the center of that debate. HelloFresh posted Q2 revenue of €1.55b and swung to a small net profit of €2.8m, helped by a group adjusted EBITDA margin of 7.8%. The stock price reaction now has to be weighed against that margin story.
