The US accounting board is researching how to better categorize cryptocurrency trading activities on corporate income statements.
Financial Accounting Standards Board members directed staff Wednesday to further study rules governing the presentation of revenue tied to assets like digital coins on income statements following public input that current guidance can be difficult to apply.
“Addressing whether or not the financial statements are presenting in a faithful way the economics of these activities is quite relevant to investors,” FASB member Joyce Joseph said.
