KDDI, au Coincheck Digital Assets, and HashPort launched the “αU wallet” crypto asset (virtual currency) wallet on September 30 as a mini-app within the au PAY payment app in Japan. Users can exchange Ponta Points for crypto assets and stablecoins, and load their holdings onto their au PAY balance for use at merchants across the country.

The wallet employs a non-custodial model. Users manage their own private keys, and access is limited to those who have completed identity verification through au PAY. Registration can be done via the icon labeled “Crypto Assets” within the au PAY app.

Exchange Options and Limits

Ponta Points can be exchanged for three assets: Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), Ethereum (ETH), and the yen-pegged stablecoin JPYC….
