Alliance welcomes funding package for motorways and major A roads, but says dial needs to move faster for local roads
THE Government has today announced that it is committing £27 billion to England’s motorways and main A-roads, as outlined in the Road Investment Strategy 3 (RIS3).
This money will be spent over the next five years, from 2026 to 2031 and, for the first time ever, a record amount of this investment – £8.4 billion – will go towards renewing existing roads and bridges.
The plan also includes major new road schemes right across England, with places such as Derby, Greater Manchester, Norfolk, and the Midlands all seeing upgrades.
