Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko is telling crypto holders to stop worrying about science-fiction threats and start worrying about con artists. In a post on X, the blockchain pioneer argued that phishing and social engineering, not breakthroughs in artificial intelligence or quantum computing, represent the most serious danger facing digital asset owners.

“Phishing and social engineering is the biggest threat to crypto. Not AI breaking math or quantum computers,” Yakovenko wrote, according to a report on the remarks. His point is that attackers rarely bother trying to crack blockchain cryptography when it is far cheaper to talk a person into handing over a recovery phrase or an account login.
