Crypto’s total market cap rose 39.6% in the third quarter of 2026, adding $840.1 billion, CoinGecko’s Q3 industry report shows. The same dataset records $1.65 trillion of turnover on the top 10 spot centralized exchanges for the quarter, down 14.2% from $1.93 trillion in Q2.
Market cap ended September at $2.96 trillion, after peaking at $3.0 trillion on September 21. The gain snapped three consecutive quarters of decline and was the strongest quarterly advance since the fourth quarter of 2024.
That is the quarter’s central divergence: an $840.1 billion recovery in value, against thinner spot turnover and a third straight quarterly fall in average daily volume.
