Cryptocurrency exchange Binance says it spends about $300 million a year on compliance as it works to shore up user trust in Ghana, one of West Africa’s fastest-growing digital asset markets.
The exchange said close to 1,500 of its employees worldwide work on compliance, as it seeks to reassure users in emerging markets where crypto adoption is rising quickly.
Emerging markets now account for more than 77 percent of Binance’s global users, up from 49 percent in 2020, according to the company. It did not disclose the size of its Ghanaian user base.
