BTSE Bhutan has obtained a full financial services license from the Gelephu Financial Services Office (GFSO), clearing the way for the exchange to launch regulated digital asset trading and custody operations inside Bhutan’s flagship special economic zone.
The approval, announced September 29, converts the in-principle nod the company received in April 2026 into a formal operating permit. It authorizes BTSE Bhutan to run a multilateral trading facility for virtual assets and to provide institutional-grade custody services under the regulatory framework of Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), the special administrative region the Himalayan kingdom has positioned as a hub for sustainable development and innovation.
