Poland’s lower house of parliament failed for the third time to overturn President Karol Nawrocki’s veto of legislation that would have created a national supervisory framework for the cryptoasset market, leaving the country without a designated regulator more than a year after the European Union’s MiCA rules began applying.
The Sejm voted 241 to 198 on Friday in favor of overriding the veto, with three lawmakers abstaining. The result fell 25 votes short of the 266 needed to reach the three-fifths majority required under Polish law, given that 442 of the chamber’s 460 members were present.
