BitcoinIRA, the company that helped bring cryptocurrency into self-directed retirement accounts a decade ago, is now making a play for investors who want exposure to digital assets without the handcuffs of an IRA.
The Las Vegas-based platform said September 1 that it has rolled out Freedom Accounts, a taxable crypto investment vehicle that carries none of the contribution caps, required minimum distributions, or age-based withdrawal rules that govern retirement products. The launch marks the first time BitcoinIRA has offered a product outside the retirement space, and it lets eligible clients see taxable and retirement crypto holdings side by side in a single dashboard.
