Monthly spending through crypto-linked payment cards hit an all-time high of $759 million in July 2026, more than doubling from $306 million a year earlier, according to data from blockchain analytics firm Paymentscan cited by venture capital firm a16z. The figures highlight how digital dollars are rapidly moving from trading desks to checkout counters, even as the sector remains a tiny fraction of the overall payments landscape.
The surge was accompanied by a sharp increase in transaction volume. Nearly 9 million crypto card purchases were completed during the month, up from roughly 5.2 million in July 2025.
