Publix stock price falls as sales slow for the 4th consecutive quarter

Aug. 5, 2026, 2:26 p.m. ET

Lakeland-based Publix Super Markets faced continued economic headwinds during the second quarter of 2026 leading to its fourth consecutive quarter with a slow down in sales growth.

Publix’s quarterly numbers reflect a company still producing strong profits but facing slower underlying growth, its latest financial report shows. Sales increased modestly, comparable-store sales declined and most of its growth in earnings was driven by investment-related gains rather than core supermarket operations.
