Hungarian parliament votes to repeal crypto validation rule

The policy change eliminates an additional transaction approval process that had created challenges for crypto businesses operating in Hungary.

Hungary’s parliament has approved legislation abolishing the country’s mandatory validation regime for crypto-asset conversions after the government concluded that the additional national requirement conflicted with the EU law.

Lawmakers backed the bill by 143 votes to 46, with one abstention. Since 1 July 2025, certain conversions between crypto-assets and traditional currencies or other crypto-assets have required a declaration of conformity from an authorised validator.
