Barclays share price falls as US peers race ahead

Barclays’ share price has dropped 5 per cent in morning trading after a weaker performance in investment banking compared with US peers.

The bank posted a 31 per cent boost in pre-tax profits year on year for the second quarter, rising to £3.3bn, beating analyst estimates and prompting the group to increase its group income target for 2026 from £31bn to £31.5bn.
