Apple is facing a lawsuit accusing the company of negligence in enforcing security measures on its App Store after three users allegedly lost more than $1.8 million through a fraudulent cryptocurrency wallet application.
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The plaintiffs are seeking to recover the money they lost, along with additional damages.
Fake Sparrow Wallet App Appeared on Apple’s App Store
The lawsuit centers on an application called Sparrow Wallet, even though the official Sparrow Bitcoin Wallet is not available on iOS.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs believed the app listed on Apple’s App Store was connected to the legitimate Bitcoin wallet service.
