Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children couldn’t purchase publicly traded stocks and would have to provide advance notice of their sale under a modified version of H.R. 7008.

The bill also includes the text of H.R. 9368, which would require voters in federal elections to present government-issued photo identification, including if they vote by mail.

The legislation combines two top priorities of House Freedom Caucus members, who recently upended GOP leadership plans in a bid to secure consideration of a different voter ID bill and lobbied for a vote on a stock trading ban.
