A new survey has found that a majority of Canadians support the government’s recently announced ban on cryptocurrency ATMs.

Crypto ATMs allow customers to deposit cash and then convert it into Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC) and other crypto.

The federal government in Ottawa has announced plans to ban crypto ATMs, which are currently not regulated in Canada.

An online poll conducted by Research Co. has found that more than half of Canadians (56%) support banning crypto ATMs, while 26% are opposed, and 18% are unsure.

The same survey found that only about one-third of Canadians (34%) have a favourable view of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, while 44% hold an unfavourable view and 21% are not sure.
