The NFL has hired SUMIT VARSHNEY as its next senior vice president of corporate strategy and strategic investments, and his portfolio includes overseeing the league’s 32 Equity investment activity.
The increasingly important role had been vacant since DHRUV PRASAD left the NFL for the PGA Tour in September. 32 Equity, which started in the early 2010s with a fund of just $1M per team, is the NFL owners’ collective investment fund used make venture investments in startups in the sports/entertainment/technology space and seed larger projects.
