Hostplus, one of Australia’s largest pension funds, is weighing whether to add cryptocurrency as an investment option for its members, with the fund’s chief investment officer confirming that member demand is driving the review.
Sam Sicilia, Hostplus’s CIO, told Bloomberg on Monday that some members have written in asking why they cannot access cryptocurrency through the fund. Sicilia said the option could be available as soon as next financial year, offered through the fund’s ChoicePlus product, which lets members take direct control of how their retirement savings are invested.
