Traditional crypto wallets have always had a single point of failure—the seed phrase, a password composed of a series of random words intended as a backup. As early crypto adopters age and digital assets become part of mainstream wealth planning, inheritance, particularly centered around the seed phrase, has emerged as a critical gap in self-custody.

Non-custodial crypto wallet Bron, founded by the folks behind digital asset custodian copper.io, recently announced a digital inheritance feature that purports to tackle this issue.

“Sixty-six percent of seed phrases end up lost forever or in screenshot or open text formats,” says Bron founder Dmitry Tokarev. “[The wealth planning industry] can’t move forward like that.”
