DOJ Freezes $580M in Crypto Tied to Chinese Fraud Networks

The U.S. Department of Justice has seized and frozen more than $578 million in cryptocurrency over a three-month period from accounts linked to Chinese transnational criminal organizations, the agency announced on Feb. 27. The funds were traced to schemes using social media platforms and text messaging to target U.S. residents through fraudulent crypto investment operations.
