An analysis from Barchart evaluates AutoZone stock performance and analyst ratings. The Memphis-based retailer, valued at $62.1 billion by market capitalization, has seen its shares gain 10% over the past year, underperforming both the S&P 500 Index, which rose nearly 13%, and the SPDR S&P Retail ETF, which gained about 14.1%.
In 2026, however, AutoZone stock is up 10.5% on a year-to-date basis, surpassing the marginal rise of the S&P 500 and outperforming the retail ETF, which shows 4% gains for the same period. The company’s earlier underperformance was attributed to a $98 million non-cash accounting charge, weather disruptions, and a lack of prior-year hurricane-related sales.
