Crypto’s landmark 2025 ends with a whimper
News: The Senate Banking Committee has jettisoned plans to hold a markup of crypto market structure legislation before the end of 2025.
It’s a lackluster finish to a year where crypto has otherwise appeared ascendant in Washington. Congress enacted a major stablecoin regulation bill in July, which followed a historic wave of campaign spending in 2024.
Stakeholders are optimistic about making further progress in 2026 – but midterm politics will loom increasingly large over the process.
