OCC eases the path for banks in crypto

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has cleared a path for banks to execute “riskless principal” crypto trades, drawing a mixed reaction from the former Commodity Futures Trading Commission chair and the crypto industry.

Fresh guidance allows banks to act as an intermediary, buying first, then instantly reselling, without holding inventory, which reduces their risk.
