1. Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) to Support Three Major Banks in Joint Issuance of Yen Stablecoin link

Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) announced its support for a proof-of-concept experiment on the joint issuance of a yen-denominated stablecoin by three major banks. Participated in jointly by MUFG Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), and Mizuho Bank, Ltd., the project is being advanced as the first supported case under the “Payment Innovation Project (PIP)” with the aim of verifying the compliance and feasibility of stablecoin issuance through a consortium of multiple banking groups. The experiment is scheduled to launch in November 2025.
