President Donald Trump has selected Michael Selig to chair the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Bloomberg reported Friday, advancing the administration’s push to establish clear cryptocurrency oversight. The nomination comes as Congress works to expand the agency’s authority over digital assets markets.
Selig currently serves as chief counsel for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Crypto Task Force and senior adviser to SEC Chair Paul Atkins. He previously worked as a partner specializing in crypto at law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher before joining the SEC.
