Most Americans don’t own crypto, viewing it as risky investment

Most Americans aren’t interested in investing in cryptocurrencies, viewing them as very risky, according to a new survey from Gallup.

Just 14% of Americans told Gallup they own bitcoin or another form of crypto.

Some people say they are planning to buy crypto, while others say they are intrigued but won’t be buying.

Most survey respondents, 60%, said they simply aren’t interested in crypto.

Fifty-five percent of people said crypto is very risky, including 42% of current crypto owners. Nearly three-quarters of people who don’t want to buy crypto view it as risky.

“I would say that it is very risky,” said Leonard Kostovetsky, an associate professor of finance at Baruch College in New York. “I would agree with this.”
