Iran’s biggest Crypto exchange Nobitex hacked, $90M drained by pro-Israel group

Iran’s top cryptocurrency exchange, Nobitex, has confirmed a massive cyberattack that resulted in the loss of over $90 million worth of digital assets. The hacking group behind the attack, known as Predatory Sparrow, has claimed responsibility and says it targeted the exchange as part of a politically motivated move.

The incident occurred on June 18, and Nobitex publicly acknowledged the breach the following morning. According to the company, a part of its system was accessed without authorisation, including its hot wallet, which holds some of its users’ cryptocurrency for quicker transactions. Following the discovery, the exchange suspended access to its website and app, and a full investigation is now underway.
